Claude's Recommendations
- DRIVE: Obsessive Drive (OD = Fulltone OCD sim) at gain 38 — this is the critical fix; the Supro cranked wide open produces a thick, harmonically saturated overdrive that is FAR more driven than the TS9 used before; the OCD type nails the Supro's character: raw, mid-forward, harmonically complex crunch with singing sustain and Telecaster-style bite on top; gain at 38 gives real crunch without crossing into high-gain metal territory.\n
- COMP/WAH: Compressor at depth 6 — the cranked Supro compresses hard via power tube saturation and tube rectifier sag; this models that beautifully, giving the bends that locked-in, singing quality where notes bloom rather than spike; essential for holding slow Page-style wide bends.\n
- EQ: Low 6 (+3dB), Mid 7 (+6dB), High 7 (+6dB) — the Supro's honest midrange is its defining character; the Tele bridge pickup adds serious high-frequency bite; mid boost is the soul of this tone, high boost adds the Telecaster's natural cut and presence; do NOT scoop mids.\n
- DELAY: Tape Echo (t) at 480ms, feedback only 2 — the Echoplex EP-3 was used but very subtly; just one or two ghost repeats trailing behind each phrase, barely audible; the tape type gives warmth and slight pitch wobble; do NOT push feedback higher or it will drown the tone.\n
- REVERB: Plate (P), level 2, decay 4 — Page's Supro solo was recorded with minimal reverb, approximately 20% spring reverb from the studio room; Plate type at very low level (2) mimics this perfectly; the previous Hall setting at level 5 was excessive and smeared the attack — this is the critical correction.\n
- EXPRESSION PEDAL → Drive Gain: roll back to ~25 for the measured opening melodic phrases in A minor, push to full 38 for the climactic screaming bends in the upper register final section."
