Set Module Selector to PATCH LEVEL, then rotate the VALUE knob until the display shows "78" (patch level 78). Range is 00-99.

DRIVE: JCM Amp (JC) at gain 28 is the closest GEM Box equivalent to Angus Young's Marshall 1959 Super Lead Plexi cranked into power amp saturation — NOT heavy preamp distortion; the tone is crunchy and punchy, not modern hi-gain metal, so resist the urge to push gain past 30.
COMP/WAH: Compressor at depth 5 approximates the Schaffer-Vega Diversity System — the secret of Angus's Back in Black tone; the SVDS added compression, harmonic richness, and a signal boost that further saturated the Plexi, giving that unmistakable punchy, almost 'compressed' British crunch.
EQ: Neutral low (5), boosted mids (6) and highs (6) — Angus's tone is mid-forward and slightly bright, NOT scooped; the midrange is what gives the riff its cut and the solo its vocal quality; boosting mids is the single most important EQ move for this sound.
NR/CAB: 4x12 Stack (S) with NR at 3 — matches Angus's Marshall 1960 4x12 cabs with G12-65 speakers; NR kept low because Angus's cranked Plexi tone has natural, musical noise that shouldn't be gated too aggressively.
EXPRESSION PEDAL → Drive Gain: Roll back to ~15 for Malcolm's clean rhythm chord parts, push to full (28+) for Angus's lead and solo sections — this mimics Angus's real technique of using his SG's volume knob to control drive level between rhythm and lead.
